Tutorial: Printing Square Photos

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

If you’re an avid iPhonographer, you probably have your fair share of square photos from Instagram or Hipstamatic. Printing them is a hassle, as most of the common photo printing services don’t offer square prints, and instead blow them up to fit the standard 4×6 size! Here’s an simple tutorial for creating a Photoshop action that will add a white border around your photos that can be easily sliced off.

My New York

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

I've spent the weekend working on a scrapbook of my New York adventure. More accurately, I've been procrastinating by scouring Pinterest for travel book inspiration!

New York Scrapbook
I saved every last ticket stub and map and pamphlet. The had part is writing; I'm no good at captioning or “journaling” cause it always seems so cheesy (this is my main beef with scrapbooks!)

Wanderlust: New York City

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

It’s been a little quiet around here, but that’s cause I spent the week in New York City!

I got to see my sister perform with her choir in Carnegie Hall, and we did all the typical New York things. I had never been there, so it was quite the experience!

Now to sort through 1000+ photos and get them on Flickr! Have a good night, everyone!

A Hazy Shade of Winter

Monday, January 7th, 2013

I thought I’d start the second week of 2013 with a quick roundup of what I’ve been up to.

My brother is off to China for a whole year! I made Hobbes for him for Christmas before I knew he was going. He took it along. I think it’s safe to say he enjoyed it!

I started playing around with a label design for my husband’s homebrew for fun, and this was born. I might go back and redo it later, but he was quite pleased with it in the meantime.

I’ve been working on the Juneberry Triangle only halfway done with the edging. It’s exhausting! It’s beautiful, though, and I’m sure it’ll be worth it.

I fulfilled some of my Maid of Honor duties and went dress shopping with Jenna. She found the perfect one on our first trip! Don’t worry, this isn’t the one!

Happy June!

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

Good morning, world! It’s finally June, my favorite month! My birthday is on Monday, and I’m one of those people who gets ridiculously excited about it… yeah, I know. I’m going to be 25! It sounds like a milestone, doesn’t it? We’ll have to see how I feel after the fact.

I’ve spent the morning at Starbucks uploading and organizing hundreds of photos.. It’s a task I usually put off until it’s overwhelming. I got up earlier than anyone else, though, and none of my siblings wanted to join me, hah.

I want to participate in Blog Brunch today, but I get the feeling that it’s going to cut into some valuable family/friends time. Unfortunately, I work most Saturdays, and when I plan to have one off, it’s usually because I have something going on.

What’s going on with you this weekend? Any fun plans? Any other June birthdays?

Photography: Duck time!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to spot a lovely mallard couple splashing in my pond. By the time I got my camera and lens all set, they were basking in the sun.

I normally think of mallards having green heads, but look at how brilliantly blue it is!

Eventually I got a little too close and they flew away.

The tulips are also blooming, which always makes me happy. My grandma used to have tulips in her back yard that were still coming up after years of ignoring them. I always thought that was the coolest thing.

Anything neat going on in your backyard?

Most of the pins I originally wanted to include were knitting related- I’ve been thinking about it constantly for the past few days because it’s fricken cold here. But my arm has seriously been killing me all evening and knitting photos are just making me depressed, so… here are some colorful things!

We’ll have lived in our house for a whole year (I can’t believe it) at the end of this month. Not gonna lie, I’ve done far less with it than I wanted.

So, I jumped on Pinterest (obviously) and poured over my “For The Home” board and picked out photos that I wanted to specifically design my space around. I stuck them all in a brand new board.  Let me show you some of my favorites!

First of all, this tile is amazing. If we ever save up enough money to redo the bathroom, I want this in it.

Do you ever think my craft room could be so organized? Probably not. A girl can dream.

This bedroom is a little too rustic for the style of my house, but I love the colors.

I like the bed in this photo.

I am *definitely* doing this on my fridge!

I lurrrrve these walls.

Any suggestions? My house is 100 years old this year! Kind of a bungalow style, and only 900 sq. ft. Ahhh!! So little space!

***I own none of these photos, but they are all linked to their respective owners on this pin board***
